about

Time makes fools of us all. Where the hell did that wide-eyed teenager who thought he'd get a steady band together, drop albums, live a musical happily ever after on his own terms go? Somewhere else. Nakpat has largely accepted the fact that living a musical happily ever after is just not a thing that happens, and sank into the everyday detritus of the real world. However, through all that, Nakpat remained acutely aware of the midlife crisis. You've gotta plant a musical flag early, otherwise you'll look quite silly with a blues dad guitar doing stiff motions to a Roxette cover or whatever creative trench awaits Nakpat in 20 years. Then you can hold your head high in the creative trench, knowing you took your best shot and missed horribly all those years ago and as such aren't trying to compensate for anything. As such, Nakpat is here now to ram that musical flag as hard into the barren wasteland of indifference as their jaded worldview will let them!

The concept of an album was quite a mythologised one. Be on a label, go into a studio, release a proper physical thing and stuff. However, we're living in the future, and it's entirely possible to piece together something aurally bearable and release it on the internet without getting up from the couch. As such, behold stuff pieced together by a bunch of knuckleheads with a 100 quid budget and no understanding of how to record or produce music. The vocals were tracked on a USB Guitar Hero microphone in various forest clearings in southern Poland. The guitars were tracked on a budget audio interface to a plain click track as who needs drums as a reference. However, the ragtag recording doesn't fully dull the underlying songs, which should be up to snuff. Nakpat spent a while figuring out how to do this whole "piecing notes together" thing beforehand. About the best Nakpat can hope for here is that some musical explorer stumbles upon this album at some point and falls for it, like prior musical explorers stumbled upon forgotten gems like Paraxism and Albino Slug. Nakpat is not for everyone, and that's ok. Here's to hoping it's for someone at least.
